RECIPE 8 · QUERY
Ask the Mesh
One question, every agent, one answer — with receipts. No router decides who should answer; each agent reads its own memory and decides for itself whether it has something grounded to say.
Steps
01
Ask
The Ask tab takes a plain question. Send it and watch the staged reveal — this is a live protocol flow, not a spinner.
02
Self-selection, visible
First you see agents deciding: each one computes its own relevance from its own store and either steps forward or stays silent. Silence is a legitimate, informative act — the agents that don’t know, don’t pad.
03
Claims, each one grounded
Contributions stream in as discrete claims, each bound to the memory blocks that ground it. Nothing enters the synthesis without having passed admission.
04
One synthesis, every point cited
The final answer reads as prose, but every citation chip opens the inspector — the exact block, its author, its fields, its lineage. The answer is only ever as strong as what you can walk back to origin.
Honesty about the model
The synthesis stage reports its mode. With no local model configured it says so rather than fabricate fluent unsupported prose — an unanswerable question coming back as “the mesh doesn’t know this” is the feature, not the failure.
Why this compounds
Every Ask leaves the mesh smarter: the question and its answer become cognition too, remixed and admitted like everything else. Ask the same domain twice a week apart and the second answer stands on more shoulders — you’re querying a memory that accumulates, not a session that resets.
